Siegfried Anzinger was born in Weyer in Upperaustria in 1953. From 1971 to 1977 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts inVienna at Maximilian Melcher. He moved to Cologne in 1982. In Germany he had many exhibition participations, like “documenta 7”. 1988 he was involved at the Biennale in Venice. Anzinger was a member of the artist circle “Neue Wilde” in Austria. Since 1997 he works as professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf. He was awarded a lot of artprizes. Oskar Kokoschka Price (1988), Price for Fine Arts of the City of Vienna (1990), Austrian State price for art (2003), etc. Anzinger especially works with oil or distemper on canvas. The inking has the appearance of lightness and the “non finito” impression is very important. His early works was very expressive. He usually creates series and works on several pictures at the same time. Anzinger prefers motives such as animals, Genesis, Madonna and erotic depictions.
