Ernst Gradischnig was born in Carinthia in 1949. Since 1968 he dealt with painting. In 1971 he got acquainted with Boeckl, Kolig, Wiegele – the Carinthia Modern. He studied at the Académie Ecole ABC in Paris. Subsequently Gradischnig completed a graphic study at Herbert Breiter in Salzburg in 1978. This was followed by the creation of his own graphic atelier. He also went on several study visits to Paris. Apart from France he traveled to Iceland, Croatia, Italy, Hungary and Russia, South and North Africa. Since 1973 he had many single and group shows. He is a member of the Carinthian and Salzburger Kunstverein. The artist lives and works in Carinthia. In his coloring, Ernst Gradischnig picks up the typical colors of the Nötscher Kreis, the artist circle of the Carinthia Modern. His work can be seen as a development of their art. In addition to his landscapes, he also creates portraits. He does not only do paintings, but also graphics.
