Valentin Oman was born in Carinthia in 1935. From 1958 to 1962 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna at Hilda Schmid-Jesser. In 1963 he completed a graphic course at Riko Debenjak at Slovenia. In the same year he arranged his first exhibition. Since this time he has been organized single and group shows at home and abroad. He was awardedmany awards, for instance the honorary doctorate. The artist lives and works in Vienna and Finkenstein, Carinthia. Apart from his paintings, Valentin Oman has also been engaged in creating frescos, graphics, sculpture, especially for sacred space. Central motif are the human being and fragmented figures which are only showed dimly. In his pictures, he uses very strong colors.
