Heinz Stangl was born in Vienna in 1942. From 1961 to 1967 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts at Vienna at Prof. Maximilian Melcher. Since 1963 he arranged a lot of exhibitions. He was a member of the Vienna Secession and for a few years even part of the Board of the Association. Stangl was awarded many art prizes. The artist died in 2008. Heinz Stangl had started his artistic career at the Wiener Phantasten – like Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Ernst Fuchs - before he turned to his own realism. In the common years he developed his own, free, self-expressionistic style. His works persuade with a very sensual quality stemming from his large figures and the strong colors. The erotic and morbid everyday situations should provoke the audience. Here, the surreal elements can be identified
